Case Study
SSG (Halma) – Leadership with purpose
Finding the finance talent that helps driving health manufacturing forward.
The client
SSG develops critical lifesaving alarm systems for patient care and medical services across the NHS and international markets. The company, founded more than 60 years ago in Wombourne Staffs, is part of Halma Plc, a multinational group listed on the London Stock Exchange with a market capitalization in the double-digit billion-pound range.
The assignment
STOIX was retained to identify a Chief Financial Officer for SSG who was comfortable working in a gritty manufacturing environment whilst ensuring the individual was of the calibre to succeed within a FTSE100 matrix structure. The incumbent had to be able to use data and insights to drive change and help the business meet its strategic growth objectives.
Our solution
STOIX’s solution was to combine a rigorous search methodology with an innovative, agile, and modern approach. This meant delivery of a UK market mapping process, best practice headhunting and presentation of candidates on a video platform to showcase the character and values behind the CV.

The Result
Through our focused and robust search strategy, STOIX identified a high potential Chief Financial Officer with significant manufacturing experience to support the phase of growth of SSG.
Candidate experience
From previous experience, recruitment and interview processes have usually been a daunting step. Having a well-prepared recruiter on the side however, makes that process significantly less overwhelming.
STOIX’s support throughout the Halma recruitment process did exactly that. The pre-recorded screening interview to go alongside a written CV, was not only innovative (from my experience) but also allowed me to present myself in a way that no written CV could communicate. The frequent communication to ensure I was informed on progress and feedback took a lot of the usual uncertainty out of the process and ensured I was well prepared for those I was meeting.
